In both cases, the investor maintains ownership of their portfolio — and continues to benefit from dividends, interest, and market appreciation — while gaining immediate access to liquidity.

How It Works

The process is relatively simple:

  2. Determine loan value: The lender typically offers between 50% and 95% of the market value of your portfolio, depending on the risk and composition of your holdings.
  3. Access your funds: Once approved, you can draw from the line of credit much like a home equity line — for investments, business opportunities, real estate, or personal needs.
  4. Maintain your collateral: You must keep your portfolio above a required loan-to-value (LTV) ratio. If your securities drop in value, you may face a margin call, requiring you to add funds or allow the lender to liquidate assets.
